Being on the Sherman Varsity Soccer team everyone is a show off, including myself a few times. A "show off" means that a person does there best to show case their talents even if those talents aren't exactly present. When a person is a show of I immediately gain the impression that the person is cocky and bull headed.
At my old school, I played basketball. There was this one girl who was the Kobe Bryant of Boswell High School, and she knew it. She was a total show off and everyone let her know. "Showing off" is just an attempt to make it known that you are better than everyone else. It is not an inherently bad thing to do; however, where and when someone shows off says a lot about their character. This girl on my basketball team, for example, was a very poor show off. She did it at the most inopportune times, like when we were losing the game and needed teamwork more than her selfishness. There are still good times to show off though, like at a science fair when you want your project to win. Showing off says that a person is either talented or simply selfish.
I agree with you that there are certain times and places when being a show-off isn't necessarily a bad thing. In most cases show-offs are selfish or arrogant people.
I once called these dudes Bryan and Ede showoffs because they had DIAMOND apparel and they kept talking about it. Then I called them BK Randies. A showoff is a dude(s) that brags about something they have. I understand it sometimes because some people earn the things they have but when things are handed to you, you should never be the one that constantly shows off. This says that people are losing the meaning of being humble.
In theater, pretty much everyone is a show off while on stage. Everyone loves to be a show off every now and again, you show off what you feel you're best at. Yes it can seem a bit egotistical at times, but people just like to follow what they do best.
In my HOSA class, all of us students wanted to show off our best potential. In this class i believe we where all show offs due to the fact we all wanted to show how good we will be in the medical field. Show off to me means someone who shows there talents to gain good impressions.
A show off is a person that tends to do something in front of people just to do it. Once I called my a friend a Show off durning football practice cause he was catching the ball with one hand. I was impressed
A show off is someone who thinks their better than everyone else. Alot of people think their a show off because they think their better than everyone.
In my elective class, we do a lot of projects in which a lot of us including myself, show off our projects. A show off is someone who may like to brag off something they do or made. It doesn't always necessarily mean that person is a bad person for bragging but it is often looked down on.
They're is different types of show offs. Sometimes some people have good intentions and sometimes others don't. When it comes to compete for a job or something like that it's good to show off your talents. On the other hand showing off things you own to people who can't get those things then that for me is considered bad.
I have seen people being show offs many times. Sometimes they know it and sometimes they don't. Being a showoff means that you have a relatively high amount of confidence in yourself or something that causes you to flaunt yourself or whatever that thing is. It shows the shallowness of the persons feelings and can create rifts within that person's relationships with other people.
I was called a show off a few times throughout school for a few reasons and none of them were meant as compliments or as a good thing. To be a show off it so think or act like you're better than everyone even if in some cases you're not. Sometimes, depending on the person it can mean they're proud of their talent or that they believe their talent is better than everyone else.
We are young and feel a need to be praised and appreciated. When we fail to feel this way we either show off and work harder or rebel and draw attention to ourselves. When we finally get the praise we craved for so long, we may let it go to our heads and start looking down on others who are still seeking that sign of approval and respect.
A show off is some one who brags about everything he has. By being a show off means you want attention from other people or maybe saying you're better than other people. They always tend to do it in front if people.
I see this everyday, whether it be some guy's new girlfriend or a new clothing item, or even a car. This basically goes to show that that person, A. doesn't feel good about themselves, or B. want's everyone else to feel inferior to them, or C. both of the above.
Soccer Varsity is being a somewhat "show off." Cause it's a sport you can show your skill and your agility. As a goalkeeper we can show off too. We have the ability to make saves and amazing ones to show off to the other team.
I see people show off on the soccer field all the time. Being a show off is basically doing something extra to show that you're better than someone or everybody. I see people showing off their skills with the ball all the time and sometimes it goes wrong and its embarrassing for them.
I have heard someone being called a show off . To me it means a person is very arrogant or thinks that they are better than others. In my opinion a show off isn't very good in group work or working with others because that person would try and be the center of attention.
I have seen students in class that try to show off they think that they are more important than anybody else so they just star talking and making jokes during class to get attention.
A show off is someone that does there best and wants to impress. Everyone wants to do the best they can or be. Show off to me is someone that does there best abilities and good talents. They have a lot of confidence in them selves.
"Show-offs" are actually people who I find very annoying. I consider a show-off someone who is constantly trying to brag about the things they have or how good they may be at something. There's nothing wrong with being proud but there is a very fine line between those two things. I've told people to stop being show-offs before so i guess that would count. I think when people brag about what they have is because they want to fit in or feel like they're above other people.
A show off is someone who feels really confident in them selves. Someone who thinks they are hot you know what and that nobody can touch them. They think they're better than everyone else.
I've heard that many times seeing that its a common word when you are a child. To me its being to confident but in other cases its a good thing. I haven't been called that a lot but that doesn't mean I'm not confident I'm just comfortable.
I have called somebody you show off once and what are you would think what I was using that term for was that he was being flashy or overdoing it is motions per se. Another case would be when I was watching television somebody called the main character show off for doing 50 backflips and a server soul just making entrance so that also adds up to what I was saying show off would refer to a person who's flashy and is known to overdo it
I play a lot of competitive strategy games, and people show off a lot. Honestly, I don't really mind it. If you have it, flaunt it. It will just make a loss sting even worse.
Being a show off isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes you have to show off to show that you are the best candidate for a specific thing. Everyone can be a show off sometimes.
A show off is someone who has an incessant need to prove to others that they are better. I'm sure any athlete will tell you there is at least one on every team. Once on a team I played for they coached daughter was a definite show off and everyone knew it. Her ego was soon shut down when she was placed lower on the lineup than usual due to her lack of productivity.
I call my brother a show off when there are other people around and he likes to start play fighting with everyone to show off how strong he is. I think a show off is someone who wants other people to acknowledge the abilities.
I have been called a show off before, particularly in soccer. I dont necessarily believe it's a negative thing, I just think it means someone knows they're good at something and is confident in their own abilities.
I have seen students in class that try to show off they think that they are more important than anybody. If not just spend talking during the class and they think they are the best.
Well you know in this class its called professional communications for a reason, we have to talk and that not saying or letting you know that someone else is better than you or cooler than anyone else. i do understand where you are coming from, like in other classes if you have to be silent i understand that's annoying. the point is if they talk they get in trouble .
A person that i pass as a show off will have to be my cousin! He started out like all of us with nothing, but as soon as he started working and getting money he acts as if he is such a great big thing that nobody can achieve. I personally do NOT like people who think that they are better than anyone else, because we are all the same. We all started out the same way, with nothing. In God's eyes we are all the same. We all have to treat everyone the same no more nor less, that's my way at looking at things.
Yes because once someone was ball hogging and tried to do cool tricks and make "awesome plays but it wasnt really working, and everyone called him a show off.
A show off is someone who boasts about things they have or do. Everyone has done and it,now just apart of peoples desire to be popular or excepted. I have shown off about things like my musical talent and I dont see the harm in it as long as you aren't boasting to make someone feel small.
Yes, I've have called and heard somebody say show off to someone else. A show off is a person who display their abilities, accomplishments, and what they have. Showing off can either be negative or positive thing, depending on how the display it. For example, if a person is showing off their fancy material things or that they did more accomplishments then someone else; then that's negative. Because you're just trying to make someone feel bad or have lower ability than yourself, which is untrue.
I have heard many people be called a show off. This is not necessarily a bad thing always. Sometimes it is okay to show off the skills that you have. It is only bad when the person is trying to be better than others or the are full of themselves and do it all the time.
A "show-off " in my own opinion is someone who likes to show how much money they have or the materials that they have in life. Yes i do understand and don't have anything against those who work for their own needs, but when is about a adult that loves to brag what they have because their mom and dad bought it for them that's when i tend to have a problem. i have called someone a show off and it has been because of what i just talked about on the negative side. There aren't always negative things about this word but there are also good things like showing off your very great talents in order to make a dream job happen.
yeas i have called some one else a show off because one day me an my brother was at the store an we were getting a lot of sweets and some pretty girls got behind us so when the total came back instead of pulling out the amount of money we need he pulls out a big stack of money an starts to count it in front of the girls and i told him her was showing off.
